At Fern Floristry our green pledge is to provide a fabulous floral service while reducing our impact on the environment. Here are some ways in which we have improved our sustainability:

  • Around Scotland and the British Isles, there are a huge number of amazing flower farms and growers who provide the most fantastic blooms that literally have been shipped within hours of being picked. Imagine no hours of flying and days of transport? This provides us as florists with very fresh, fragrant, and sustainable flowers while helping build the floral industry in the UK why should we not try and keep our purchasing local?

We want to be part of this growing community where we work and build a relationship with our growers. There will be occasions when our bride will choose to get married out of season therefore, we will use trusted, fairtrade suppliers from Holland.

  • At Fern Floristry we point blank refuse to use floral foam in our designs and installations, unfortunately damaging our oceans and marine life across the globe, we would rather think creatively and challenge ourselves to design with eco-friendly alternatives such as moss, branches, raffia, string, chicken wire, flower pins, and reusable vessels.

  • We transport and deliver your flowers and installations in an electric vehicle.

  • We recycle vessels, jars, installation structures, and candle holders. We do offer a discount to brides willing to reuse pillar candles these take a long time to burn and often we are left with more than half the candle, once lit nobody will be able to tell.

  • We insist that your wedding flowers have a second life too! All your wedding flowers will be able to be taken away the day after to enjoy at home or given away to friends and family, if this is not possible, we can arrange for the flowers to be taken to a nearby nursing home or hospital allowing others to enjoy.

We do owe our future generations a sustainable planet for them to thrive and survive. Let us all take those steps however small to make sure this happens.
